Water lily taken at Fairchild Tropical Garden. We took the tram tour this time and learned that palm trees have a single growth point, that palm tree trunks are really just a hard sheath around stalks like grass, that Florida is the only place in the world where Alligators and Crocodiles co-habitate naturally, that Fairchild Garden is a global conservation powerhouse, that the cafe on the grounds is pretty great, and something about Cutler Ridge being the edge of the highlands.

We also got a one-year membership to the gardens, which comes with free or reduced entry to tons of botanical gardens nationwide (at least one in pretty much every state, including Franklin Park Conservatory and the NC Arboretum) and worldwide science museums (including COSI and the NC museums). Rock.
